A major funding investment of £12.5 million has been made by the Local Authority to extend the facilities offered for educating special needs students. Three Ways School in Bath has recently been opened to provide a purpose built environment for 150 pupils aged 2-19..
After having successfully completed a similar smaller facility in Radstock in Somerset, Network was commissioned by the Education Department to develop furniture solutions for teaching science, food technology, ICT and all the other National Curriculum subjects throughout the new School. Particular attention was paid to workplaces which required built in height adjustment to enable wheelchair users to operate comfortably. Electronic actuators were incorporated into the specially constructed support frames to enable rise and fall actions giving variable height working surfaces for critical functions such as cooking and scientific experiments. External fitments were also constructed from impervious materials to create wet play areas for the younger pupils.
